Hello, and welcome back to the Wildly Wealthy Woman podcast. Today, I have a dear friend and fellow Tapping School practitioner, Christie, with us on the podcast. This... Christie's also a lover and listener of the podcast. So if you are listening to this podcast because of her, thank you for listening. I'm so excited to share today a little bit about our journey as friends, colleagues, and the magic that you're doing in the world, Christie. I know that there's women that are looking for community right now and that are going through their own transitions, and you have such a rich, um, I'm gonna say history of, of different modalities and levels of expertise that you use. And I- when I was thinking about who I wanted on this show, you came to mind because I trust you, I love you, and welcome to the Wildly Wealthy Woman podcast. Thank you, Jackie. This is so exciting. I know. I'm, I, I know we ... Years ago when I was, like, playing with the idea of podcasting, we did an interview, but I never ended up launching that podcast. So it's time you come on the Wildly Wealthy Woman show. And can you share with everyone a little bit about, yeah, what you do and who you are and your philosophy in the world? Because you are one of the best manifestors I know. Ah. And I know that you have a very specific philosophy. So I'd love for you to share that as we get started today. Yeah. Well, why don't I share a little bit about myself? Yes. Um, so I have always been, uh, knew I wanted to be a teacher, and that's when you and I met, right? I was a classroom teacher, and I studied teaching, um, in college and beyond, and I had all kinds of degrees in, in teaching. I had my undergrad in elementary and early childhood, and then I went on to advanced degrees. I got my, um, reading specialist certification and my educational leadership and my curriculum design, and I just thought I was ready to run the school. But I've also been really passionate about learning and, and that is where some of those degrees came in. And it was really around COVID, right? When I saw everybody struggling, and I decided, how am I gonna help everybody? I've always been somebody to say, like, how can I serve? How can I support? How can I encourage people? And when I was- Going through my own ups and downs. I was going through a divorce. Um, I was leaving my home. I had children in elementary school, middle school, and high school. So I was on my own journey. And all of a sudden I found myself teaching virtually, which was really uncomfortable. And I was on, on my screen watching students kind of paying attention. I was watching parents in the background scrambling. I was watching colleagues kind of, oh, I think I would describe them as feeling really uncomfortable with this, with the technology. Um, I think in classrooms we consider ourselves, like, performers, and this was different. And I decided I really wanted to help people thrive. How was I gonna help people flourish? So I went back and got my certification as an applied positive psychology practitioner. And as I was going through that program, I discovered tapping. Yay! Of course I did- ... right? Because- Yay ... I'm studying how do people thrive, how do they settle their nervous system, how do, um, you know, we deal with adversity and triggers, and, and how do we become resilient and have grit. And I was, um, part of an international conference, and one of the gals in my group said, "You really need to learn about tapping, and you need to meet Jackie McDonald." Oh. And just like that, I was like... I, I watched one day of your Tapping School. Yeah. You know, welcome to Tapping School kind of intro. Yeah. And I was like, "Okay, I have to get certified." Like, it was, like, instant. I was so, so excited. And shout-out to Caroline, 'cause I think she was the one- Yeah, shout-out to Caroline ... who connected us. Yes. Because th- and this is just my favorite way to build a business, is through community. Because when you find someone that you love and then they tell someone about you, it just builds this network of people that you love going to work with every day, you love teaching. 'Cause I'm also a teacher in Tapping School. And so, yeah, having you come in the program, I remember our phone call before you signed up, and I knew that you did so much work with kids, and I was so excited because I could see how you could use this in so many different ways. And you went on to use it in so many different ways. Yeah. Including, Christi is who I hired when my daughter was going through some transitionary times. And M- Mira still talks about that, the things- Aw ... that we learned with you. Because you had the positive psychology. You're a teacher. You understand how to, you know, transfer concepts to little kids. At the time Mira was quite little. And, um, and then the tapping. And so it's such a honor to have women like you in this community. And, um, I've, I also know that you have lived such an incredible life. You've done many things. You've traveled the world. Yeah. And that one of your magical talents is manifesting. Yeah. So do we wanna go there next? That's true. We can talk about it a bit. We can go there. We can go there. Well, I was so grateful. The year that we did the tapping was really the year that, um... Well, and I have to say, I, I met some of my dearest friends through Tapping School. I really did. And, and it's such a special experience because the way that you've set up Tapping School, and you're working as a practitioner or the client, you're really working through a lot of personal stuff, and with the same women over and over again. So they're getting to know your story. You're getting to know their story. Like you say, it's tapping with benefits. You're helping each other out. You're getting through the, the mind blocks and the energy blocks. And so much manifested that year, Jackie. So much manifested. But- Yeah ... it, it was like even right before then, right? I have never been afraid to go off the beat- the, the path, right? And that is what tapping helps us do also. It, it, it clears away the cobwebs so that we can see another way to do things. And I have, um... Like you said, I've traveled the world. I, I was a school teacher. I was teaching first grade, and I just thought, "Hmm, well, this just might be the rest of my life." Right. And I thought, "You know, I, I think I'm gonna try something different." And I went out. Um, I left my teaching job. I went to work for a all-inclusive vacation resort. I worked at Club Med. I started working around the world, and then I made so many incredible connections. And I decided to then take a one year to travel around the world to visit all of those people that I met. And it really showed me how I could live, like, a really intentional life. Yeah. And that I didn't have to do what everybody else was doing. Yes. And just try it. So I came back, you know, and, um, I quickly got married. I have three kids, and life was beautiful, and I was actually teaching at the school that I went to as a kid. Um, teaching middle school and teaching elementary school. And then my life took a little bit of a turn, and I went through a divorce, and that is really kind of when you and I met, and I came up with my brand, Yourself. philosophy. Yeah, my method, which is brand. When I think of branding yourself, a lot of people think like, "Oh, are you, you know... What kind of a company is that?" But really for me, brand yourself meant believe, receive, and never doubt yourself. Yeah. Like, who is your brand? What do you stand for? And that is what I stand for. I'm going to live the life. I'm going to do things that other people might not wanna do. Yeah. But I'm here for it all. And sometimes it's uncomfortable, and I've shared that with you. Um, there are certainly ups and downs about doing things this way, but wow, I have manifested a, a beautiful home. I've manifested an amazing husband. Yeah. A beautiful life, an opportunity to be out in my community serving every day, and that lights me up. This is exactly why I wanted you on the show, because I always say the Wildly Wealthy Woman podcast is for the unconventional woman. And I think if you're listening to this show, there's some area of your life that you've, you're just a little unconventional, whether it's your, the way you wanna heal your body, or the way you wanna raise your kids, or the way you wanna w- do, you know, a career. You're like, "I wanna do something different." And this acronym, brand yourself, believe, receive, and never doubt. If there's a woman right now that is in it, in the doubt- Mm-hmm ... and in this maybe transitionary period where she's not where she was anymore, but she's not quite where she wants to be yet, what advice, what tips would you have for her in this moment? Jackie, I always hear you say on the podcast all the affirmations, right? And for me, that big one is things are always working out for me. Things are always working out for me. And I had to say that over and over again when I was flooded with doubt. And I, you know, Brand Yourself came from actually, like, a single experience, right? I ... And if ... I'll share it, but, um, you know, I, I've told other people this story, and it's the black ponytail holder story. Can I share it? I love this story. Please share it. Want to have it? Yes. Well, you know, I was going through a divorce, and, uh, I was teaching all day. And it's not that there was shame involved with the divorce, but I- it, it was uncomfortable. I didn't know how things were gonna work out. I was transitioning to another home. I was, um, you know, showing up at work every day in front of students. I had middle school students, so I had 100 kids a day coming in and out of my classroom, just really holding it together. And at the end of the day, when it was the end of the day, I would go home and exercise. Exercise was my big release. And I do truly believe everybody needs to have a release like that, like someplace where they're in flow. It's a little bit challenging, but they've got the skills and they feel good. And for me, it's working out. And I had this, you know, black ponytail holder around my wrist. And the kids had left the classroom, and I was like, "I'm just gonna go home and work out." And one of my students came up to me and she said, um ... Ev- everybody was gone, and she said, "May I ask you a question?" I said, "Sure." And she said, "I have to go to ballet school, and we have to have our hair up. And I don't have a ponytail holder. And I noticed you have one on your wrist. Can I have it?" Jackie, I was like, "Wait, what? Take my black poi- ... This is, like, my sanity," you know? It is what you said. I don't know, right? I was like, put my hand over my wrist. I was like, "This black ponytail holder?" Uh-huh. Like, almost hiding it. And she was like, "If, if it would be okay." And I was like, "Oh, my gosh, of course. Of course I'm gonna give this 11-year-old a black ponytail." So I gave it to her, and I don't know, I walked out of the classroom, like, a little shaky and a little sad. Like, what am I doing? W- where, where am I going? How are things gonna work out for me? And on my way to the car, I passed three black ponytail holders in the parking lot. The first one I picked up, I was like, "Oh, my God, that's funny." And I put it on. I thought, "Ah, I'm good." Yeah. And then, like, 15 feet away, there was another black ponytail holder. I'm like, "Wait, what?" I put it on my wrist. I got right to my car. There's another black ponytail holder. And I thought, "You know, I think the, I think I'm getting the message." Do not doubt. Just believe and receive and never doubt that things are gonna work out for you. And I have to laugh at how many people send me pictures of black ponytail holders on the ground. That's it. Because Jackie, how do you lose a black ponytail holder? I mean, was it flying out of your hair? Does it, like, roll off your wrist? So- It's so funny you said this story because this morning I said to Mira, I was like, "I put my, the, the ponytail holder, the elastic, in this specific spot and it's not there." And I was like, "Where?" And I always think of you. Yeah. And then, um, I ended up finding one. I, I, I f- where did I find it this morning? It was in a random spot. It's almost like finding a dime. You know when people say- Yeah ... dimes? And I was like, oh, it was in this pocket of the sweater that I was wearing. And I was like, 'cause I, I went to Pilates. I'm like, "Ugh, I can't believe I don't have an elastic for Pilates." And then I put my hands in my pocket for my keys and the, and it was in my pocket. And I was like- Never doubt ... never doubt. It shows up. And so it's so funny you say people send you that because I always think of you any time I can't find one or I need one. I'm like- Yep ... I think of Christy. Never doubt. And that's a brand, right? That's a brand- Yeah ... you've created ... that's my brand itself. Yeah. The number of black ponytail holders I have. Yeah. So- ... I think that you have to have some of those little things. You know? Yes. You have those little people showing up at the right time, that divine timing. Yes. Knowing that it's gonna be okay. But for me, it was affirmations. It was listening nonstop. And the other part is, and I love this about Tapping School, every time I have an opportunity to, to host a workshop or a retreat, I bring tapping. I always bring tapping. You need it. You need it for the nervous system when you're going through these things. But the other part I remind people is first start with your five senses, too. Like, which of your five senses grounds you? And a lot of people don't think of it. They're like, "I don't know." And I'm like, "Well, is it sight?" Like, for me, it is sight. Yeah. I love a gorgeous view. I love sunset. I love looking at the moon. I love the stars. My kids tease me all the time. They're like, "Mom, I don't know anybody as obsessed with moon phases as you." But it brings me tremendous peace. Yeah. Now, I have one, one of my kids is all about the touch. Like a warm blanket, a bath, a stuffed animal, a sweatshirt. The other is music. Music grounds. I think it's, it's important to know what grounds you, and then to have a tool like tapping. I love that as a piece of advice, 'cause if, if someone's going through uncertainty, you can kind of spiral and- Yeah you know, either spiral in your head or just feel like you can't get your rhythm. And, um, I agree with affirmations, just simple statements. And I also hear, like, you also are paying attention to the signs. Mm-hmm. But it, it's almost like the signs came after you regulated yourself, which is what you're saying is, "I love that," through the senses. 'Cause when you, when you asked that question, I was like, "Hmm, what it- Yeah, what's yours? What is mine? What do you think? I... Well, when I heard you say the sight of, like for me, it's the river. Like, if I go to the river and see the river, I just... I don't know. There's a sensation that it gives me. Mm-hmm. And then I always get my best ideas for business there. I was just hearing... I was hearing you say that on the podcast the other day, right? Oh, yeah. Going to the river with a journal and- Yeah ... slowing down. And the river probably invites you- Yeah ... to do that. And- Yeah ... and I'll say as, as, you know, moms, busy women, unconventional women, our nervous systems get pretty hijacked, and we have to learn how to reset because we don't get that restorative sleep. We don't get a lot of the breaks that we need. So you, you have to know your thing- Yeah ... so that you can, you can calm it down. Um- You've done such a good job of blending. Like, people often come to me in tapping school and they're like, "But how? How do I blend it?" I'm like, "Go look at Christy." Right. Christy's a great- You- example- ... help you ... of blending it, 'cause yeah, sh- you can help them. Like, you, you came in with already so many incredible skills. And I've been watching. You just went to Costa Rica, didn't you, for a retreat? Yes. Yeah. Like, you're traveling- Yes ... the world tapping. It's so cool. I brought tapping to Costa Rica, and they loved it. It was... We did yoga. We did breathwork. We did happiness activation. We did volcano hiking, waterfall. And we're going again. Actually, if anybody else wants to go with us to Costa Rica- When? ... we're going next April. Next April. And we are so excited. This company that we're working with is incredible, farm-to-table food and beautiful accommodations. And, and there will be tapping. Um- It's so- I bring it everywhere. I bring it to... I, I do a lavender farm retreat every month. We bring tapping. I did a winery retreat. We bring tapping. Love it. It's always. I also- We'll, we always do it. And there are, there are people who will say, "I've heard about it," or, "I think I've seen it on Instagram," or, "But I don't really know a lot about it." And we'll do it. We'll do some couple of rounds. Even if I'm presenting a workshop, usually there's always somebody who wants to bring up tapping. And, um, just to watch people get a tool Is rewarding Yes To see somebody feel, um, like empowered. Yes That they have control now. Like, "Okay, okay." There's something I can do, right? Right. 'Cause when... E- especially when your emotions, if you're in a... Not that everyone's in a desperate place, but if you're in a place of uncertainty or doubt or... Like, I... One thing I love about tapping is how fast you get clarity. Oh, I was just gonna bring that up. Yeah, you, right? Like you just- Yeah, because I- I... From the Costa Rica retreat, I have a client. She is a very busy musician. She is on Fashion Week. She is in Miami. She's in Atlanta recording. She's in New York City. She's making big, bold moves, and she loves tapping. She's like, "I have so much going on. I need to tap to figure out my next move, to figure out what I should do next." And, um, the tapping really helps her unpack- Yeah ... what she's looking for and to see her options. That's what I love about it. I love that you said that because I- I also work with a lot of, like, influencers who, uh, same thing. There's a lot happening in their world. They're traveling. They've a lot of mentally demanding, and they can be working on a project that's not going through and not going through and not... And then they do a tapping session, and it goes through. Yeah. It's so cool because it's just that it reorganizes your in- inner world and gives you clarity and, and alignment and, like you said, like, your nervous system. It just- Oh my gosh ... sorts everything out 100%. I mean, I'll never forget being in tapping school and tapping on the idea that, like, teaching can happen outside the four walls of a classroom. I, like, couldn't see that at first, Jackie. I was like- Really? "Well, it could be in classroom, but it could be on Zoom." And we were like, "No, it could be outside the classroom." And as you know, two years ago, I left my teaching job of 20 years. I started my own company, Positive Education Organization, and I got married in a week. And I was like, "I'm going to teach outside the four walls." Yeah. "This is what I can do." And I've seen teaching doesn't have to be formal. It, it doesn't have to be a teacher in front of the classroom, and that is probably what I'm enjoying so much right now, the collaborations, the community, the supporting the women, the children, uh, seniors, everybody, caregivers. It's, um... You know, we have these tools. We have this wisdom. All of us have something to share. That creative, collaborative energy is- Exciting Yeah, your life is just like you've expanded your life so much by allowing yourself to go out of those four walls. And, like, that's why I wanted to have you here, because a lot of people listen to this show and, you know, resonate and love my work, but not everyone can work with me or is able to or whatever, or it's not a match. Mm-hmm. And so I also wanted to bring you on for everyone to know, like, Christie is someone I recommend working with. If you're looking- Ah ... for somebody to tap with, she is phenomenal. Like, I, I trust my own daughter with her, so Thank you. Yes. Thank you. Thank you for that. Yes. And I know there's a lot of women listening that are up-leveling right now, and that are... They need those, those... They know what to do, but they need help actually doing it, right? Like, you're right, "I gotta do my affirmations," right. "I gotta regulate my nervous system." But instead of just adding that to your to-do list, show up on a call every week with someone like Christie, and you're going to have- Yeah an... It's gonna... Everything's gonna shift. After your first session, you're gonna be shifting. Thank you. Yeah. And I think that that is, it's having so many tools, right? And for me, going back and getting the positive psychology and really understanding the science of wellbeing and flourishing and understanding the importance of, you know, managing your emotions and engaging with your character strengths, building your relationships, finding your meaning and your purpose and achieving and, and your vitality. It's, it's all of this together. Yeah. And it can feel like a lot, but, but we can tease it apart, right? There's, there is... Thriving is, is something you can do. There's, there's a science to it, right? There's a formula. There's a formula. You're not just like, "I'm thriving." I'm not. Like, I can help you thrive. There's- Yeah ... this is science. Yeah. And that's very exciting to me, too. I love, I loved that program along with tapping really, wow- You've, you've- ... powerful. Huge ... done such a brilliant job of partnering two and three modalities. Like, there's so many different things that you do, and bringing them together and not overthinking it. And lots of people are like, "I need the exact plan," or, "I need the exact pla- path." And yeah, there's, there's certain things that will help you put it together, but you've also really trusted your natural skills and abilities and where the universe has guided you to go- Yeah ... and what to do and what to say. And, uh, it's come together in this, such a beautiful way. Aw, thank you. Yeah. Um, I'm excited about it all. It's really every day I am ready to receive the next thing, right? The next opportunity. I'm waiting. I'm, like, hungry for it. It's- Yes ... it's exciting. Yeah. And I think that is where we hold back, and I've done it myself, where you're just... You know, you're quiet and overthinking it and not sure what's going to happen, and then that's where you come back to those affirmations and that grounding. Yeah. All those grounding techniques. What are your three favorite affirmations? Things are always working out for me. Mm-hmm. Love that one. Um, I love, um... I o- I'll often do, like... Have you ever heard of HALT? It's just the acronym HALT. I think so, but remind me. I think of it a lot. Don't get too hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. Ooh, that's beautiful. And I think when you're going through a hard time, you just kind of need that. It's like halt, stop. Yes. Right? Just don't get too hungry, angry, lonely, tired. And- Oh, that's beautiful ... and it really, it really helps. And, um, I, I always... I guess I always think that, like, things are about to get really good. Ooh. Things are about to get really good. I love those ones. Something like that. Those are so beautiful. So one of the questions I like to ask everyone that comes on the show is, number one, what did you have to release in order to receive where you are now? You have a beautiful home, a beautiful family. I love how you met your husband, Mike- Yeah ... because you guys have such a fun story. Walking. Walking. Right? Do you wanna tell that story? Right? Everybody kept saying, "You have to go out. You have to go out and meet somebody, or you need to go online. You need to go to a bar. You need to..." And I was like, "But I don't do those things. I'm gonna meet him doing what I love to do most." And I met him walking, walking in my townhouse neighborhood. I love that. I was walking, walking, walking, and he was walking, walking, walking. And one day he just said, "Would you like some company?" And I said, "Sure." And we just started walking. Aw. And two years later we got married. Married. So to get to all this beautiful, abundant life that- Yeah ... you have now, what did you have to release? I think I, I had to let go of what... And I still am doing this, Jackie. You know, I've talked about this. I have to let go of what people think I need to be doing. W- I have to let it go. It slows me down, and it's this... I actually feel that this week, too, it's like one of those layers that just needs to come off me. It's like the Saran wrap or the onion. I just, I just have to shed this layer of what people think that I- need to do, and I have to trust myself, like you said, with certainty that things are going to work out for me. Yes. That I will know the right thing to say, the right thing to do, and I have to trust myself. Oh. And tr- and, and I, I trust the divine. I mean, I'm a firm believer that there's some- something with another hand in here that is helping me and guiding me and protecting me, and, um, so that I can show up and serve. This is such an interesting, like, commonality from almost everyone that I've interviewed is ... And I did a, I did a master class once called Best in the Business, and I, I kind of examined, like, interviewing women that are b- the best in their industry, and what were the five core, core things that they had. And I realized it was five a- affirmations or beliefs, and it, the first one was that they trust themselves. Yeah. It's like, I trust myself, I lead myself, I know myself, I love myself, and I listen to myself. Oh, yes. Yes to all of those. Yes. It sounds like what, exactly what you're living. Yeah. You are doing that. You are the living embodiment of that right now. You, you have to. Yeah. It's going to come down to you. Yes. Right? You're the vessel that it's all happening through. You're ... We always say that. You're the vessel. Yeah. Right? You have to. And you have ... A- and I'm a big fir- firm believer in acting as if. You have to act as if this is already happening. Yes. Trust yourself that it's going to work out, and act as if it's gonna happen. Oh, you're so good at it, Christy. Like, that's why I want people to be in your energy, 'cause your embodiment of it teaches people how to do that. By being in your energy ... I mean, we've been in Mexico together. I've- Yeah experienced you in real life many times, and, like- Yeah ... being in your energy teaches people how, how to connect to that magic, how to connect to that truth, how to trust themselves. Um, and you're just such a gift. I'm so grateful- Aw ... that you're in this community. Thank you. I'm so grateful that we have this connection through the years. I'm so grateful. It's really special. And, you know, I think another thing that's beautiful about our friendship is that we support each other and watch each other pivot. 100%. And we cheer each other on. On. And that's another thing. Yes. That women, I think they're afraid that they won't be supported. You will be supported. Yes. We're here for each other. Yeah. That's what we're meant to do. Yeah. Encourage each other, support each other, pivot. Go live your best life. And I just wanna acknowledge and honor you right now, because whenever it comes to sharing Tapping School or c- asking you to come on a podcast or anything, you show up and you share. You're not ... Like, if you guys get the honor of having Christy in your life, she is a person that shows up for you, and that- To me is one of my most valued qualities in a friendship. And so I just- Mm ... thank you for always showing up. And you're just like, "Of course. No worries. I'm d- it's already done." And I'm just like, that is, that is priceless to me. That's better than gold, having friendships that do that. And if you're listening to this and you're lucky enough to get to know Christie or work with her, you're gonna get to experience that. Oh. A really high quality friendship. So thank you. Thank you. And my last question for you- Mm ... is, that I ask everyone on the show, if you were to finish the sentence, "The woman I am becoming is..." What comes to mind? Actually, I think love. Oh, beautiful. That's a little bit of a different word. I think I was going to say, like, unconventional or one of the things, but no. I just really wanna show up. Yeah. I just want to show up. Yeah. Love. And not be afraid to do that. Yeah. Love- To be visible. Maybe to be visible. Ooh, the woman- That's what I would- I'm becoming is- Ooh ... is. Tell me more about that. Wait, what? Where did that come from? Yeah. Jackie, you're so magical. You're bringing out all the, all the words. Yeah, maybe, right? Yeah. I- Mm ... when I think about who you're becoming, I also think about, I see a woman who's building a, who has and is building a very large community. Oh my gosh, I love it. I love my community. You are a magician at building community. Like, I don't know how you do it. Yes. But you are- My book club. We have a book club. Yeah. Right? Tell us about the book club. Yeah. Yeah. My gosh. I think the book club came from you, when we were talking about things that we could do to create our community, and I was like, "Well, I love reading." So I have my Inspired Book Club. We read uplifting, positive books. I think there are 100 women in the book club. Christie, that's amazing. I know. There are 100 women in the book club, and I just... We have it twice a month. Wow. It's on Zoom twice, and then it's in person twice. Same content, different way to join. Wow. It's been fabulous. I have friends- From Canada. Tapping friends from Canada. Wow. Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, Tennessee, Florida, Alaska. Oh my goodness. All over. Just joining me on a Zoom to talk about- This is what I mean. Like, the woman you- ... talking about books ... the woman you're becoming- Go figure the woman that you are is such a community builder and such a leader.
